On Good Friday over 100 children met the Easter Bunny for a charity Easter Egg hunt in aid of the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity at the Uckfield Rugby Club, organised by Dawson Hart's very own charity committee.
The Rockinghorse Children’s Charity is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. It was set up 45 years ago to provide additional resources to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies; such as life-saving equipment and to provide an environment that is better suited to children. They don’t get any government funding, but rely on generous outside support from individuals and organisations.
Staff, friends and family of Dawson Hart have been busy with all the preparations including baking lots of delicious cakes and savouries for everyone to enjoy.
As well as hunting for Eggs in the woodland there was plenty to entertain the children with a bouncy castle, face painting, crafts and tombola.
Local businesses in Uckfield; Kids Stuff, The Uckfield Candy Store, Final Score sports shop, Poppins restaurant, Waitrose and The Picture House made the tombola a success.
It was a very well supported event and not even the weather dampened anyone’s spirits. We raised over £650 and all the children had a thoroughly good time. In addition, because of the generosity of Tesco customers we were also able to donate some additional Chocolate Easter Eggs to the children in the Alexander Children’s hospital.
