Dawson Hart Solicitors have been awarded the prestigious Wellbeing at Work Gold Award by Wellbeing at Work East Sussex.
This significant achievement highlights our unwavering commitment to creating a healthy, supportive, and empowering workplace for all our staff.
Building on Silver Success
After earning the Silver Award earlier in 2024, we set our sights on Gold, taking our well-being initiatives to the next level. Achieving the Gold Award required us to demonstrate continued innovation, measurable improvements in staff wellbeing, and an enduring culture of support and inclusion.
Enhanced Initiatives for Gold
To progress from Silver to Gold, we introduced a range of enhanced strategies and initiatives:
We benchmarked the annual staff health survey against the previous year to form a structured analysis of whether previous incentives have created change and embedded practices. The yearly health survey also acted as a framework for bringing in further initiatives such as flexible working policies, policies on bullying, harassment, whistleblowing and equality and diversity. Fostering a culture where employees are encouraged to take regular breaks away from their workstations. Procedures for reporting and recording MSK conditions and making reasonable adjustments. Encouraging staff to participate in team activity sessions that are inclusive to the whole workforce. Allowing staff flexibility to attend screening and other healthcare appointments during the working day.
Sustained Impact
Since embarking on this journey, we’ve seen measurable benefits, including improved employee engagement, reduced absenteeism, and a strengthened sense of community within our team. Achieving the Gold Award demonstrates our sustained commitment to these values.
A Model for Wellbeing Excellence
We encourage other businesses to pursue the East Sussex County Council Wellbeing at Work Awards. They have a fantastic, supportive, and engaging team, and the journey provides a valuable framework for driving real growth and improving employee wellbeing. Our experience has shown that prioritising the health and happiness of employees leads to a more motivated team and, ultimately, better outcomes for our clients.
At Dawson Hart, we believe that a workplace prioritising wellbeing is one where everyone thrives. We are proud to champion this ethos and are excited to continue building on this success.
Why Dawson Hart?
By fostering a workplace where well-being is paramount, we not only support our staff but also ensure the highest standard of service for our clients. Whether you are a client, partner, or prospective team member, you can trust that Dawson Hart values people first.
We look forward to further strengthening the well-being initiatives we already have in place and participating actively in the East Sussex Stakeholder Wellbeing meetings. We are working towards taking the Age Friendly Employer Pledge in partnership with the Centre for Ageing Better. We will introduce sign language training for members of staff who are interested and will continue to emphasise mental health and reduce stress in the workplace. We will also be presenting at the 2025 East Sussex Wellbeing at Work Awards Ceremony – where we will discuss our journey to achieving the Gold Award, including the challenges, milestones, and strategies that contributed to our success.
