The Prime Minister announced a further national lockdown on 4th January 2021. The current guidance from the Government is that you can still move home. Estate agents and removal firms can continue to work and viewings can continue to take place. People outside your household or support bubble cannot help you move house unless it is absolutely necessary.
The national guidance on moving home that has been in place since the property market reopened in July 2020 still applies. For more information on how to stay safe whilst undertaking viewings and moving home, please see the Government advice on home moving during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Please be aware however that, due to the Stamp Duty Land Tax holiday expiring on 31 March, the property market remains overwhelmingly busy with mortgage lenders, surveyors, search companies and lawyers working at full capacity. Transactions are taking longer to complete as a result so do ensure that you take this into account to avoid disappointment and frustration.
