We were delighted to be able to support Sussex Support Service CIC as our charity of the year last year and because fundraising has been tough due to the lock-downs, we decided to continue to support them this year as well.
Sussex Support Services provides day activities for older people in East Sussex living with dementia, Parkinson's and other extra care needs. Unfortunately, they had to close their day centres during the lock down restrictions but they were able to continue with one-to-one telephone support and the occasional one-to-one face to face meetings weather dependent.
As with so many events we had to cancel our annual Easter Egg Hunt and we could not have our much loved Barn Dance. However our staff did not want to be defeated so they organised a socially distanced run, took part in a Colour Obstacle Run and completed the very challenging Beachy Head 10km two years running. However we really enjoyed all the events we could do and more importantly we loved raising money for Sussex Support Services!
